You’ve met our polishes—now meet the witch behind the wand.

I’m Ellie, the founder and creator of Boldly Lacquer: a Maine-based indie nail polish brand born from a little chaos, a lot of creativity, and one very stubborn self-induced gel allergy during the pandemic. What started as an attempt to paint my nails at home turned into a love affair with indie polish—and eventually, a mission to create safer, bolder options that don’t follow the expected.

Boldly Lacquer isn’t just about nail polish—it’s about crafting tiny spells you can wear on your fingertips. Every shade is steeped in story, inspired by folklore, cryptids, the wild beauty of New England, and a deep-rooted desire to make something powerful. This brand is for those who never quite fit in, those who crave connection, and those who believe their nails can be just as expressive as their souls.

When I’m not blending shimmer and mystery in the studio, I’m probably drinking too much redbull, chasing after a tiny wild child who loves painting her nails with Mommy, or lost in the woods dreaming up the next collection.

This blog—Boldly Spoken—is my space to share what goes into the magic: behind-the-scenes peeks, nail care tips, my favorite tools and brands, and answers to your burning (or glittery) questions. It’s a little rebellious, a little heartfelt, and always authentically me.
